Located in the cultural corridor of Rio de Janeiro, the Imperial Palace is a rare example of a historic monument that at different points in time was the scene of important events in Brazil’s history. Currently, it serves as a multicultural venue featuring programming for visual arts, theater arts, music and seminars as well as offering shopping and restaurant services. The palace is also home to the Paulo Santos Library, which holds the architect and historian’s private archive. The Library boasts more than eight thousand volumes and 250 newspaper headlines, in addition to rare works from the 16th to the 18th century about architecture, engineering and Brazilian and Portuguese literature.
